Grants for Voluntary Groups Community Projects
A new local fund has been launched which will help all sorts of rural community groups to improve their amenities. The fund is called COMMA The Community Aggregates Fund and it’s a levy intended to provide community-benefit wherever there is an impact from quarrying. If you live within 10 k of a local quarry it’s likely you will qualify. Some of the ideas put up so far have included building energy efficiency into a village hall, children’s play equipment, a community minibus, a survey and campaign for affordable housing, improving footpaths as well as conservation of the local environment and wildlife. Almost any community activities will be eligible.
You can access all the information you need by visiting
www.acre.org.uk/COMMA.htm or contacting your local Rural Community Council. (see the ACRE website for your local contact.)
