If your rural village has a population of under 3000 you are entitled to a 50% reduction in the rates bill or more if your local authority feels you need it. This applies if you are the only village general store or post office, as long as it has a rateable value of less than £7,000.

The LTCS was designed to help mitigate the effects of landfill upon local communities. It encourages partnerships between landfill operators, their local communities and the voluntary and public sectors.
